Dr. Maria Roa
A proud Venezuelan who moved to Miami as a teenager, Dr. Roa began her academic journey at Miami Dade College’s Honors Program before transferring to the University of Florida. There, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and later completed her veterinary degree. She spent the past few years working in Connecticut, where families appreciated her warm, empathetic approach and how she always took the time to listen and understand what mattered most to each pet family.
Dr. Roa’s professional passions include preventive medicine, dermatology, and caring for senior pets—especially close to her heart since she shares her home with Canela, a sweet senior chihuahua mix she adopted from a local shelter.
Now back in Miami, Dr. Roa is excited to serve the pet-loving community she calls home. Fluent in Spanish, she values building strong, trusting relationships with pet families. When she’s not at the hospital, she enjoys beach days with her family, trying new restaurants (she’s a big fan of rainbow sushi rolls and tres leches!), and staying active with Pilates and gym workouts.
